The Silver Saddle Saloon Granbury TX

I've been coming to Silver Saddle Saloon for about 6 months now. This unique establishment just keeps
calling me back, and I'm always game to visit again.

When you walk through the doors of the main entrance, you immediately feel the Old West vibe as it
flows from the streets of the Granbury Square and into the saloon. And by the word "saloon", please
don't presume that alcohol is the predominant elixer of choice at the Silver Saddle. Silver Saddle is more
of an ice creamerery than anything! Yes. When you come on in, there is a bar on your left hand side
that has many, many of some of the most unique flavors of ice cream that I've ever seen. Most are
custom flavors that you can't get anywhere else. Some are old fashioned, and some flavors are just very
interesting and delicious concoctions. And if you arrive at the right time, you will see some of the staff
making the waffle cones right in front of you. There is definitely nothing "cookie cutter" about the ice
cream in this place.

But why stop at talking about the ice cream? I mean, the ice cream is a good enough reason by itself to
get anyone up and into the Silver Saddle, but there is so much more. For one, there is a kitchen in the
back that whips up some very nice food. The menu is not exhaustive, but everything is top notch. You
can get chicken sliders (aka "chickies"), bbq pork sliders (aka "piggies"), panini's, bbq pulled pork
sandwiches, southwest chicken salad, and more.

Yet another reason to visit (for those of us over the age of 21), is that there is a full-service bar in the
back of Silver Saddle. You can get a glass of wine on the Granbury square at one of many
establishments, but this is the only place I know of where you can hang out and order an Old Fashioned
while not feeling any dress code pressure. Of course, there is plenty of cold bottled beer to drink if you
like, but the fabulous staff genuinely excel at mixing you what you are looking for.

Speaking of the staff...they are the best in town. Everyone wears 1880's period clothing and they are the
friendliest folks that I've met in a long time. Server's with names like "Rebel" and "Trouble" will take care
of you with a smile and friendly conversation. They truly make this oasis feel like home once you walk in
the door.

Something else that I need to impress is that Silver Saddle Saloon is extraordinarily family friendly.
Everyone is welcome. And to keep the young ones, or the young-at-heart, entertained while waiting on
lunch or just waiting around, there are plenty of games throughout the saloon. You can get on one of the
checker boards downstairs to beat the time. And upstairs there is a full-sized billiards table as well as a
full-sized poker table that can accommodate up to ten players! And if gaming isn't your cup-of-tea, then
there is also a book share library upstairs next to the pool table and plenty of comfy chairs in which to
relax.

Check out their web page at www.silversaddlesaloongranbury.com to keep up with the current events as
there is live music every weekend, Two-Step Tuesdays every 2nd and 4th week of the month, free Texas
Hold 'Em every Thursday (with a $150 cash prize) and more. This place is truly hopping!

Silver Saddle Saloon is located on the historic Granbury square at 124 N Houston St. and is open from
11am-1pm Tuesday through Thursday, 11am - midnight on Friday and Saturday, and then on Sunday
from noon to 8pm. If you have any questions, they can be reached at 817-964-3555.

This 45 minute video will walk you through some of the highlights of home buying and credit.  There are many people out there with what I would call credit phobia.  This film will help you to better understand the process and leave some of those fears behind.

The Brew Drinkery in Granbury

7/2/2020

"The Brew", as my husband and I call it, is located at 206 E. Pearl.  It is one of my all-time favorite date-night spots in Granbury.  The Brew is happens to be only two doors down from my parent's home and is just off of the square in Granbury.  This puts Brew in an ideal location for both babysitting and window shopping for me.  There are over 40 rotating beers on tap, fresh brewed coffee, wine and mixed drinks as well as a fantastic lunch and dinner menu.
I am currently sipping on a Schilling cider named "Excelsior".  I enjoy either light beers or ciders with high ABV's.  Usually this is quite a tall order.  However, the crew at Brew always take care of me by offering new drinks they think I might like and letting me try them first.  Zeb, my husband, and I are currently having dinner, and everything on their menu is top notch.  They have what I like to call a gourmet bar menu.  Although I have never been there at coffee time, I am told you cannot go wrong there either.
The atmosphere is absolutely wonderful and eclectic with a jazz sort of feel to everything.   Located in one of Granbury's many historic buildings, it has the feel of a wild west saloon meets jazz lounge.  The owners are very into music and so the lights are made of different drum parts and pieces.  One of the big walls is decorated with classic rock and jazz LP's.  Outside, there is a front area with tables and chairs and where bands play upon occasion (generally Friday and Saturday nights).  If you are going outside make sure to tell them so that they can put your drink in a plastic cup.  Granbury has an open container law that allows you to be anywhere on the square with an alcoholic beverage.

The owners and their staff members not only add to the ambiance, but they are a part of it.  It is like a real world "Cheers" where everyone knows your name.

The Plantation Inn Granbury, Texas

I really enjoyed my stay at the Plantation Inn.  The Plantation Inn is located right off the square in Granbury and is situated closely to many other amenities.   When we stayed we had a few problems at check-in, however, they were solved right away by the staff.  Each room has a refrigerator, microwave, TV, and coffee maker.  We did not spend a lot of time in the room though because of the main feature the pool.  My boys are teenagers and the one thing that they can both agree on it is if we stay somewhere it has to have a pool.
The pool is outdoors and you can catch glimpses of Lake Granbury from the various tables situated in and around the pool area.  The space provides plenty of room for a picnic or just relaxing in the sun.   The boys played for hours while my husband and I sipped on a few beers.
Later we went by Whataburger and sat and ate at one of the cute little tables with the best view of the Lake.  There trees shaded the table and given that the boys had worn themselves out swimming, there was an overall sense of peace.  My husband has never really enjoyed Hotel queens but given that the boys, who sprawl and are 5ft 7in and 6ft tall, were able to get to sleep without to much fighting was awesome.
Location often says it all and the hotel is located very close to the square and other amenities.   It does not have the price tag that the glitzy hotel rooms a little closer in have nor does it have an indoor restaurant, bar, or lake side access.  What it does have is comfort.  I wake up earlier than everyone in my family and so I went down to the tables by the pool to write, The trees kept it cool and the wind blowing through them brought a general sense of peace and calm

The hotel gives you a real sense of days gone by,  and is definitely worth checking out!  You can make your reservations here:

Laundry

6/23/2020

I know exactly one person that enjoys doing laundry.  It is the oddest thing.  She has a laundry room larger than most people's master bedrooms.  Her laundry includes machines I do not recognize much less would know how to work.  She also has industrial grade washers and dryers, and beautiful stainless steel hanging carts like the ones you would use in a laundromat.
I personally hate doing laundry.  I have tried to get others in my household to take on the chore to no avail.  The secret way to keep up, for me, is to do a load of laundry everyday.  I can almost hear you laundry haters gasp I must be Crazy.  Laundry everyday is infinitely easier and much less time consuming which makes me hate laundry much less.
There are several of you, more organized than me, who will create lists for everyday of the week after accepting this practice.  I have absolutely no method to my madness.  There are some days that I want to wear a specific dress the next day, so I will go around the house gathering like same color-material to create a load.  It is extraordinarily important to remember that this does not have to be a full load.  The fact is you will be back to overwhelmed if you do this, adjust the amount of soap you put in to significantly less than a full load.
I hope that this helps, and that you find Laundry a slightly less annoying chore!
